As soon as I had sent that message I was thinking: I bet that is a college kid haha! Yeah, all of that makes sense, I did a quick little search and you can buy that remote separately and it works universally (in most cases) with all Roku models, or some of the newer ones come with that remote! (For instance: https://www.amazon.com/Roku-Ultra-streaming-Enhanced-headphone/dp/B075XMZMWY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1514825830&sr=8-3&keywords=roku+headphone+jack+remote)
I have a very lucky setup at home, firstly, all TVs I buy now are smart, then I have Fire TV and a PS4, and some other shit. Here's the lucky part. I bought a 60 Inch TV (Plasma 3D, this was 4 years ago and NOT a wise decision) and because of a small glitch and an extended warranty, I got a second 60 inch TV (Ultra HD) both smart. I also rock an HD antenna.
So. I have access to everything. Also, they let me keep BOTH tvs, so basically I have a perfect Ultra HD and a Plasma with 99% functionality.
Why don't you use your laptop for viewing shtuff? That's still pretty portable?
