The bands have been kinda bad, but I am making contacts. I have a g5rv, and it works great with a tuner. Dipoles also work great.

I saw it recommended in a previous cheap power supply post.
I'm not sure where I read it but it's my understanding VHF and UHF radios aren't as sensitive to noise from the power supply as HF. Also I figure these are mobile radios are designed to be hooked up to a running vehicle, so there must be some sort of noise blanker to deal with alternator noise.
