Also, I don't know what your setup is like, but I have been using a Hamilton Nu-Era Tabletop Mic Stand as a table stand. I just picked up a boom arm that I am going to experiment with to see how well it supports my Knox mics
For that price range you might try an XM8500. But I would stick with the ZDM-1. Overall the XM8500 will still have some handling noise. But if you put either on a mobile table top stand the ZDM-1 will be the better option.
If you want to go full-on handheld interview microphone a pair of SM58's or even better - the Sennheiser MD-46 - are EXACTLY what you need. But they are more expensive than your budget.
For a mobile table top microphone stand this might work: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AA2CUD2
I have bunch of these but I don't think they are available anymore: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VYBD58/
