I have FiOS and haven't paid rental fees for anything beyond a CableCard for roughly 10 years now without issue. I use a TiVo Bolt as my DVR, along with a couple mini's for other TVs in our house, and it's worked perfectly fine. I don't have any personal experience with the TiVo Edge, but I would assume it would work reasonably well just like the Bolt does.
Unless you have a requirement for MoCA then I'd recommend just getting a regular ethernet based router and having Verizon configure your ONT to provide internet over its ethernet port instead of via MoCA. It's just infinitely more flexible that way. I personally have a fair amount of Unifi gear (router, switches, etc) as I'm a serious tinkerer and also have some requirements for my home office setup, but virtually any ethernet router will work.
FWIW, when we moved into our new house a few months ago I needed to start leveraging MoCA just to get ethernet to a few rooms that had coax connections but nothing else. I ended up buying a few of these MoCA adapters to do that. My setup is now something like this:
ONT
-> router
-> switch
-> MoCA adapter
-> coax
-> MoCA adapter
-> Computer in room with only coax
Keep in mind, though, that these MoCA adapters won't work with the MoCA that comes out of the ONT. They operate on different channels/frequencies in order to separate WAN and LAN traffic when both are running over the same coax.
This is exactly what I did today. I had a mesh connection providing crappy Wi-Fi to the garage cameras. My detached garage already had coax run, I bought this from Amazon Hitron Bonded MoCA 2.5 Adapter... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MQG6T61
I connected LAN in and coax to the line out in my network closet. Then coax in and LAN out to an old Linksys router in AP mode. Now I have a solid 1G hardwired connection in the shop. Super easy and intuitive setup on the moca adapter.
