The experience can be very stressful and its usually because of the "unknown". Not knowing what will happen can really suck. Check out this ebook on amazon. It goes into detail about different procedures and what its like dealing with one and what happens every step of the way. https://www.amazon.com/Me-My-Pilonidal-Little-Cyst-ebook/dp/B07TTVGZ92/ref=sr_1_1?crid=QNS99CU3O8PT&dchild=1&keywords=me+and+my+pilonidal&qid=1613417996&sprefix=me+and+my+pilonidal%2Caps%2C220&sr=8-1

Keep the area from from hair, shower everyday, use a shower glove to scrub, use No Bump after shaving, dont roll or bump into your tailbone are, use a coccyx cushion, wash your hair from back to front. If you're on your second one, I can feel your frustration having been through 5 myself. I wrote an amazon ebook about the experience, what I learned from it and what research is saying about them if you want to check it out here: Me and My Pilonidal

If it continues to hurt as you explained then it is likely to have returned. The 12 week healing time sounds odd. But that would be enough time for another one to emerge. I understand your frustration with this thing I had to go through 5 myself. If your interested I wrote an ebook on amazon about research and my own experience. Me and My Pilonidal

Looks like your on your second PC. Incision and drainage usually has a high recurrence rate but helps with pain relief etc. Check out this amazon ebook with research on pilonidals and personal experiences if you want to get informed on them to deal with this current one and hopefully avoid future recurrences.
