I have the iottie car holder that I like a lot already. I really want to include qi into it because running and plugging in the cables for the audio and power is annoying, and messy. My idea is purchase a bluetooth music streamer to handle the audio, and instead of having to buy a new mount with qi built in, I found this which looks like it has potential. I'll stick that to the car dock with an nfc tag and tasker to kick everything off.
I got this one and it works great.

Ah, no, I wasn't going for an FM transmitter (I had one of those years ago - they suck terribly in my car, too much interference) - but a bluetooth dongle that plugs into the aux cord like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60
But yes, if one of those had a USB port for charging the phone it would work - however, again, it's stupid that phones lose functionality.
Easiest solution is probably get a Bluetooth bridge. You can charge your phone with a rapid charger even if you do that. The built in port only charges at 500ma which is incredibly slow.
I'm an audio engineer so bad quality audio stands out to me. A lot of the cheap bridges use an ancient bluetooth codec that sounds awful. I recommend this one because it uses a better codec (~cd quality) and the play/pause/skip controls are nice.

What you need is bluetooth to Aux port (3.5mm) adapter, so that it is always running, and your phone just connects automatically.
I have used a couple and the best most hassle free one is Kinivo BTC450.
I basically plugged it in, tucked away the cables and haven't had to do anything to it since then. It turns on and off with the ignition since it's powered through 120v outlet, and my phone automatically pairs when it's online.
Edit: ROFL just read that the 2015 Pathfinder has RCA ports instead of 3.5mm, so in this case I would power the bluetooth adapter through the 120v outlet in the center console, then connect the 3.5mm to a 3.5mm to RCA adapter, and then put that in the RCA ports in the center console. At least everything would be hidden, and it should turn on/off with the car.
This is the one I have, stuck just above the hazard light button. Easy access to play/pause/forward/rewind, good built-in mic for phone calls. https://smile.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=sr_1_22
It costs a bit more, but if you want to add hands free telephone capability, this device works great: Kinivo BTC450 I have been very impressed with both the audio and telephone call quality, it sounds as good as built in systems in both modes.
Thanks. It seems to happen in both Google and Apple maps but I'll try the phone call setting.
I have an older car so I'm just using one of those bluetooth adapters. Mine is pretty old so maybe there is an issue with old bluetooth devices?
This problem is hard to troubleshoot since I have to go on a long enough drive to test each change. Is there any way I can simulate moving around?
