For dust, I use a soft make-up brush. To polish, I carefully use Brillianize to make it looks almost new.
These methods were recommended by Bruno from MMPRToys several years ago, and they have worked well for me.
I don't use gloves as I play with both hands somewhat equally. If I have an issue, due to humidity or whatnot, I spray and wipe a bit of Brillianize on the cue. It is FANTASTIC. Non corrosive and smoooth as silk.
I have nothing against gloves, but I don't like anything that leads me to playing with just one hand. My father introduced me to this and he's been playing since the 50s (but only started using this in the last dozen years or whatever). I hear tell he heard about this from some Carom guys he plays with and ... damn it's awesome.
