Before I bought that one I bought two "cheap" pair of random smith googles (the kind that OP has, but maybe not as bad...) for about $50-$75 each. Both the amazon purchase and cheap smith googles are pure junk compared to the nice expensive ones.

I used the googles I got from amazon and it started to show significant wear after not even 20 days skiing. Feels very cheap, I fooled myself at first into thinking that nicer googles are overpriced until I actually tried them out.
