If you must start with the low budget Edifiers then consider a later upgrade to better and often larger passive speakers and an amp or stereo receiver. Then move the Edifiers to your desk for computer speaker duty or another room for a pair of Bluetooth speakers. Or you could even start with lower cost Edifier R33BT $79 or Insignia $79 if that is your plan to later upgrade to better speakers up to or past the quailty of the RT83 turntable.

The older RT81 is not worth buying anymore since the newer improved Fluance RT82 for $50 more adds a $100 increase in performance and component value since it adds the new optical sensor speed controlled motor for much lower wow and flutter and speed variation and the speed won't drift since the sensor is monitoring the speed 400 times a second. Includes the OM10 cartrdige that is just as good as the newer version 2M Red. Pass on the RT83 since the cartridge is not any better.
Fluance RT82 $299 + Technolink $49 phono preamp is a step up from the basic $15 value phono preamp built into the RT81 + Klipsch KD-400 $329 $159 powered speakers on sale with analog RCA input for the turntable and phono preamp, USB input for a computer, digital optical input for a computer or TV, Bluetooth for streaming audio, and a subwoofer output.

only thing I really need is an amplifier
Since the Sony are passive speakers, yes you will need an amp. Hook up is easy, RCA from the TT to the Amp, (https://www.primecables.ca/c-1011-rca-audio-cables)
and then normal speaker wire (https://www.amazon.com/Performance-Gauge-Speaker-Oxygen-Copper/dp/B01N6EF3GZ?pldnSite=1) out from the amp to the speakers
Some info on speaker wire https://www.audioreputation.com/speaker-wire/
Dont worry about bi-wiring, just leave the jumper on the speakers...
Turntable: AT-LPW30TK $329 $199.

Turntable:
Automatic: Instead of the easy setup beginner plug and play AT-LP60X the better AT-LP3 $169 adds adjustable tracking force, balance the tonearm then set the tracking force.
Manual: AT-LPW30TK $249 $175 is a better value to start for a $500 total setup budget than the $255 AT-LP120X and the AT-LPW30TK adds a solid MDF plinth, balance the tonearm then set the tracking force.

Or you could use the Yamaha as a phono preamp. Connect the turntable to the Phono input. Connect the powered speakers to the TAPE output.
Or connect a $33 phono preamp between the turntable and Edifier powered speakers.
The older RT81 is not worth buying anymore since the newer upgraded RT82 for $50 more adds a $100 increase in performance and component value because it adds the new optical sensor speed controlled servo motor for much lower wow and flutter and speed variation and the speed won't drift since the sensor is monitoring the speed 400 times a second. The RT82 includes the OM10 cartrdige that is just as good as the newer version 2M Red on the RT83 so there is not much reason to get the RT83.
If you want lower cost then the AT-LPW30TK $329 $199 with a built in phono preamp instead of the RT80 or RT81.
