So, I went online and looked up what to do for spider mites on houseplants. Several sites referenced using isopropyl alcohol which kills them instantly when sprayed on the plant after cleaning the obvious signs of infestation with gentle soap and water. Several others mentioned that Neem is effective. I would probably hit it with a two pronged approach.
First, take ALL your mom's plants to the shower, and one by one, clean, spray with half strength alcohol, let them dry, then hit them with neem. Get the yellow sticky cards for insects such as these : Amazon.com : Gideal 20-Pack Dual-Sided Yellow Sticky Traps for Flying Plant Insect Such as Fungus Gnats, Whiteflies, Aphids, Leafminers,Thrips - (6x8 Inches, Included 20pcs Twist Ties) : Patio, Lawn & Garden and put them all around the house, as well as in your tent to try to make sure you catch any that are moving around. Make sure you are using bio security from cleaning her plants, and changing your clothes, strip and toss in the washer everything you wear after doing the clean up, before going near your tent room so you don't accidentally bring any on your clothes. As long as your plants aren't in flower, you should be ok to spray them with neem for protection. You'll have to ask someone more xperienced about what to do if they are in flower and show signs of mites.
Mosquito Dunk in a bucket of water for at least 24 hours then use that water to water your plants. PH it and anything you normally would. Do that for a few weeks to kill the larvae and get some yellow sticky traps to catch the adults. You can reuse the same Mosquito Dunk for 1-2 months before replacing it so they are pretty economical. You can also crush a piece of a Dunk up and mix it in the top inch of your soil. Also make sure you have a fan blowing around to keep them from landing and laying eggs.
