I always use a notebook cooler. I feel it's very important to know that if it's going to use your USB to power the fan(s) then you don't want it trying to drive half a dozen fans which need more power and heat the notebook more.
I suggest using one with no more than 2 fans in it. Currently I'm using one that's keeping it relatively cool that's got a usb passthru (even though they call it a hub) *chuckling

Another one that I like which may be more difficult to track down is the Zalman .. link to the newegg page even though they don't have it in stock, it does have a hub on the back

Finally, there is this one though it has 2 fans and led lighting on them (don't like lighting on a cooling fan really since I'm not wanting to generate waste power/heat use) but, at least it doesn't have a handful of fans and has a usb pass-thru too

So.. I hope this helps with wanting to keep your notebook running a little cooler, giving it a longer working lifespan. Let us know.
*Cheers.!
