Keep in mind, replacing the radio may not correct reception problems. My '98 Ranger is deaf as a post on both AM and FM on three different radios that I tried (all were Ford OEM ones that I happened to have laying around). I believe there are several of the ground straps that are missing that help to filter out the noise generated from the engine and alternator, which are basically lightning storms.
