^This, probably better for the environment or whatever than the plastic ones. My family has used the plastic office chair mats for decades. They typically last years, but eventually get scratched up and cracked. Either way, definitely get your moneys worth out of them and I would imagine significantly cheaper than a glass one.

I googled and clicked the first link I saw for an example, no idea or opinion on this specific Brand/product, but this is exactly what ours looked like.

Alternatively, maybe get a rug/mat for your desk space? Just any extra layers will help really. Hope this helps.
