I used to have a scout scope on it, and at that time I realized a cheek riser was a must. I hate those nylon socks, so I started looking around. I found this gem http://johnlathrop.com/wp/?p=27#comment-5553 and a bunch of images on google and decided to follow that tutorial but 'refine' it a bit.

I cut the pieces a little differently for looks and to accommodate the movement of the adjustable part with the strap attachment points. Also, I used kydex holster retention screws in stead of chicago screws, they look and function better. It is not finished. I am going to remold the top piece, it warped into a saddle type shape when cooling. I used a heat gun to bend the parts (wife was home).

Also, I added tool box tray liner under it (against the stock): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002LVUWMW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am going to trim that so it doesn't show at all.

Also, the original velcro straps I ordered were too short, so it only works for the back they were 12 inches. So I had to use some other (much thicker velcro) on the bottom, but it doesn't mess with the functionality at all (on the butt-stock the thick velcro creates a shelf that would be uncomfortable under recoil). With these you definitely don't want them too long or they won't line up, soft to ruff parts. I think 18 inches or 20 might be just right.

The kydex I used was this (thick stuff): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ATTH96E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

...and for some reason it took a while to arrive.

Here's the pro tip: I cut up 24 can diet coke boxes and made the thing out of the card board (manila folders would probably work too). Then that's your pattern for the kydex.

[EDIT] I miss-measured, the 12 inch straps are the perfect length.

Straps (12 inch - too short except for the back one): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DBBG5ZB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I think I could stand on it and it wouldn't budge. It is rock solid. Also, I should give credit to Bradley Cheek Rests, their product had probably the most influence. Mine is rough but functional, theirs is extremely refined (almost beautiful), and functional.

Only issue: I'm right handed, and the front part (the piece you actually put your cheek on) touches my tirigger hand right behind my thumb when I am holding it in position to shoot. It's not in the way, it's just distracting/annoying. I'm going to trim that back an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch on the right side front.
