Fellow iOS owner here. Get this Bluetooth low energy adapter. Works great for LeafSpy. Waaaay faster than wifi, and no need to change your wifi settings every time you want a peek.

LELink Bluetooth Low Energy BLE OBD-II OBD2 Car Diagnostic Tool for iPhone/iPod/iPad and Android. New: Configurable Auto On/Off https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QJRYMFC/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_JRHC2NSB3EV5S2YZ6KJ3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I am happy with this one.
I've been using this one without issue: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QJRYMFC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also have a 2020 SV and an iPhone.
I am interested in this too. I have LeafSpy and it works fine with my 2019 and 2020 Leaf, but provides nonsense info in my 2023. It would be nice if it got upgraded to work with the newer car.
This is the dongle I bought, which seems to be very highly recommended:
This is the one I own and many others recommend:

iPhone user got this one and had no problems...https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QJRYMFC
This is the one suggested by the Leaf Spy Pro app. I have used it in two LEAFs successfully:
https://www.amazon.com/LELink-Bluetooth-Energy-OBD-II-Diagnostic/dp/B00QJRYMFC
That app can read trouble codes from a LEAF. There's no trick to using the reader, just plug it in, tell the app to use Bluetooth LE, and it finds the reader automatically.
There wasn't a cover on the OBD port on my 2018. The port is under the dash where the steering wheel is.
The pins are keyed so the dongle only goes one way in. Just gotta reach down there and jam it in.
I used to unplug it if I wasn't going to use it for awhile to prevent it from draining the 12V battery (it's not supposed to but you never know...) but now I have a lithium 12V I don't bother.
I believe this is the one the app recommended at the time, LELink, so that's what I got, even though it's more expensive than most others. I can confirm it works, though: ww.amazon.com/LELink-Bluetooth-Energy-OBD-II-Diagnostic/dp/B00QJRYMFC

LELink Bluetooth OBD-II Car Diagnostic Tool
leaf spy recommended one specific scanner, the LELink bluetooth model.
I would go with that specific model.
it is awesome!

I've owned two wifi models, a chinese one and a good plx devices kiwi and the first was maddening and rarely worked correctly, and the second sometimes required extra resetting.
now that ios supports bluetooth, its all easy peasy.
You need an iphone that supports bluetooth 4.0.
anyway, leaf spy connects perfectly and without intervention or configuration in a second or two and its a whole different (good) experience.
I've been using this one for a few years, including with ABRP on the ID.4:
Might be just as fast to get a reader from Amazon with prime, if you can't find someone
28k miles after 11 years is very little, the moment you start driving it more expect the battery to degrade very quickly especially with those early ones
This is the OBDII adapter the Leaf Spy author recommends
Out of curiosity, what are your daily mileage needs and where do you live?
Over-estimating the car's range based on the advertised numbers is the #1 cause for regret. On the highway in the winter in degraded battery, you might not be able to go more than, say, 60 miles a charge even with a 30 kWh battery... even though the brochure for the car says 107 miles of range.
Oh, interesting. This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/LELink-Bluetooth-Energy-OBD-II-Diagnostic/dp/B00QJRYMFC
Sounds like I should maybe not just assume it will work. Should I give it a try or better safe than sorry and just get one of the elm327 ones?
I use the one recommended by the creator in the Google Play Store app description for Leaf Spy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QJRYMFC
It says "App compatibility: ... Leaf Spy Pro" in the Amazon description. Have been using it since 2018.
