Something like this might work.

Try raising Zophobas morio (Superworms) yourself. Its fun and interesting. You can raise them in plastic shoe boxes or plastic sweater boxes depending on how many you want. Use a mix of rolled oats, wheat bran, fortified baby rice cereal as their food and bedding. You supplement that with ground up dried peas, beans, bone meal and dog food. Use carrots and sweet potatoes/Yams for a moisture source. I also used to give them some fresh greens/lettuce/oak leaves to climb on and eat, just enough they can eat in a few hours. You get healthier, higher quality worms than from a commercial worm farm.

Superworms have to be isolated from each other before they will pupate and mature into beetles. Use those cases with little squares to sort screws or craft beads or items(similar to this ). You should pupate at least 40 or 50 beetles for small bedding boxes and more for larger. Once beetles emerge let them turn completely black before you put them together with other beetles. Offer them carrot, orange or similar for moisture. The first batch give them 10 or 12 days to mate and lay eggs in bedding material then rotate the beetles to new bedding boxes for 5 to 7 days to lay eggs. You need to keep rotating the mated beetles to new beds at least once a week. If they remain too long in the bedding they will eat their own eggs and when the eggs hatch the larva will eventually start eating the feet/legs on the beetles. When you do your second generation of beetles from your own worms raised on a higher quality diet you'll see a much higher level of fertility.

I used to raise them and a few species of tropical leaf litter roaches as feeders for my tarantula collection. Much better alternatives to crickets(crickets stink, are filthy and are loud). Raising feeders yourself ensures safe and much higher quality food for your pet/livestock.
