Stanwood large, from Amazon. I'm a cheapskate/always on a tight budget, so over $80 seemed obscene to me. I finally pooled some Xmas/birthday money with a couple of refunds for stuff I'd sent back to Amazon.
OMG. I should have ditched my cheap winder from Michael's years ago--this thing is phenomenal! It's easily the best thing I've ever bought for crocheting, along with my Clover hooks set (which I got with a half-off coupon at Joann's a few years back, also for my own birthday).
Which brand did you buy? This is the brand that I bought and I absolutely love it. It also comes with a 1 year warranty from what I have read.

ETA: Also if your tension is too tight while winding it could cause damage to the gears.
