I just got a clamp-light for my desk since I'm on VC every day now. I typically work from home a lot, but didn't do enough video calls to worry much about it.

The one i got has a dimmer setting and 3 different color temps. The different color temps might help you look more natural. The dinner helps me adjust the brightness better. I had to play around with it a little to look right. Note: I'm also not pale by nature 8-)

It's taken a bit of getting used to because you're starting into the light, to some extent. However, It mostly like it for what it is.

If you're going to be working with client and other people on VC a lot, I think the investment to look right is worth it if the lighting in your room isn't consistently decent.
