I use 2 of these.
https://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-CP1500PFCLCD-Sinewave-Outlets-Mini-Tower/dp/B00429N19W/
And one of these
https://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-EC650LCD-Ecologic-Outlets-Compact/dp/B00DBAAJQ6/

No issues with them.

I had an older model if the first one listed, and it lasted about 7 years before it finally went kaput.

I currently have this: http://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-CP1500PFCLCD-Sinewave-Compatible-Mini-Tower/dp/B00429N19W

Depending on if your psu has active PFC or not you might not need a pure sine wave psu. You might also not even need the 1500 version but this is pretty much the best bang for your buck in pure sine wave psu's I've found.

I did have a power loss without the upc once and my freenas installation started basically giving my plugins issues with their ips and I had to reinstall the plugins.

No other loss of data though.

Also others may chime in that have more experience than me.

It seems that your comment contains 1 or more links that are hard to tap for mobile users. I will extend those so they're easier for our sausage fingers to click!

If it's in your budget ($80-$200 USD) I'd recommend grabbing a small battery backup, it'll also be handy for any other electronics like desktops. If the only thing you have plugged into it is the m3 max (125 watts) this one would last about an hour before shutting off but you can also get a smaller one like this if you only need 10ish minutes

I have never experienced any smell. I just now looked at the reviews on Amazon and did find some reviews mentioning smell. Seems like most of the smells mentioned went away after a few days. Search for "smell" in the reviews. I use the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System, 1500VA/1000W.
