I am glad it helped you :)

It worth take a bit of time to think about where you want to go before taking the road (or the air!). But you know this better than me ;)

Yes, the experience of playing on an acoustic piano, even a simple upright piano is quite different from a digital piano or a keyboard. I look forward to get one myself one day. But I find the sound you can get using a computer or a digital instrument quite convincing. You can listen to this video I made for example using a MIDI keyboard linked to a computer using a software to generate the piano sound: https://youtu.be/faz643WCZ-c Not too bad I think, even if I am not using a high-end software. The main differences will be the feeling and the key action.

Also, a digital instrument can be silenced and you will be able to record easily on a computer with a better sound than trying to use a microphone on an acoustic piano. Unless you are quite experienced and set up a good acoustic treatment of the room.

I love classical piano myself, it was raised with it and I made my first steps as a musician in this genre :)

But to come back to your problem. Playing classical piano means too things: - 88 keys - hammer action and ideally an acoustic piano. But you can learn quite well on a digital piano, especially if it not an entry-level model. I guess that for about $800 you could get a good one.

And when you are moving, as I suggested, a small simple keyboard could prove useful. By the way, I have seen this model of digital piano which can work on batteries and seems relatively small.
