If you're looking for a stove and want something that can do the job, is lightweight, and has compact fuel canisters? Check out this Ultralight stove. My dad introduced this to me year before last, replacing the old stove he had been using since the early 70's. It's beautifully simple, lightweight, and the fuel is available just about anywhere. The canisters will also fit in most standard pots. So it's space smart as well.

This is a good cook cup, although I think snowpeak's top tier.

This is what I have if I don't use an alcohol stove [which rule, btw].

If you want to lose a bunch of gear weight to get further from the car, let me know - I can show you a bunch of my gear that I invested into (including a 1lb 4 oz sleeping bag, 2.5lb 2-person tent [fits me and my girlfriend], and the hornet 46 which is ~1.5lbs).

Most of the stuff I look for is just preferences, going for comfort and lightweight.

Wealers Compact 8pcs Foldable Lightweight Outdoor Camping Hiking Cookware

I have this, but under a different brand name. The pot and pan are great, but the handles are annoyingly loose. I ended up removing them and use a pot grabber, which works great.

Etekcity Ultralight Portable Outdoor Backpacking Camping Stove

Bought mine for $6. Saw the exact same unit at Walmart for $20

GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless 14 fl Oz Cup

I prefer my anodized aluminum cup, because it has folding handles. Anodized aluminum tends to be lighter than stainless steel, too.

Yes, sorry. Looking back, that was ridiculously unclear. When I ran a search for the MSR Pocket Rocket on Amazon, the second result is a tiny little stove for $6 with tons of great reviews that don't sound manufactured by the company employees:

There are some cheaper cannister stoves out there for about 10.00 to 15.00 in my experience they work just as good as the pocket rocket (I spent the 50.00 on a pocket rocket) My camping buddy has this and always works just as well.
