my setup doesn’t have a sub woofer and I wanted to speakers with a nice amount of sub bass to compensate
A setup you already have or the turntable and speaker setup you will be buying?
If you want bass you can feel you would add a subwoofer to studio monitors too, often a pro studio subwoofer.
You could start without a subwoofer and then add the subwoofer later.
Home audio passive speakers can go almost as low as the 39 hz Kali LP6.
A few examples on sale:
I have 6.5" Ascend CBM-170SE $398 $312 B-stock.
They have a linear frequency response with a neutral sound.
Both the on- and off-axis frequency response measure so flat that this little gem exceeded our initial expectations and is suitable for professional studio monitoring.
Then they forgo trying to go to low since most people who what great lower bass than speakers are capable of producing will be adding a subwoofer anyways.
Because we elected to focus on vocal accuracy and clarity, instead of unrealistic over emphasized bass (like most other speakers in this class,) bass is fast and tight, not boomy and muddy. If you desire deeper bass extension, we recommend pairing the CBM-170 SE with a high-quality powered subwoofer.
Then power the passive speakers with a stereo receiver or integrated amp:
Or buy a used amp or receiver for less cost.
Then later add a subwoofer:
