The nissin fine mode 270 is just under 9ft and has a good backbone, made in Japan too
Edit- or the slightly longer one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005NGWUXG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_W0MJ7QN8SWC3RG6XNQT7
i would buy this rod, along with some flies and level line with tippet, its good for smaller creeks, you can get the longer versions if you want to fish bigger rivers. these rods can land 5lb fish without issue from my experience
if packability is your thing, i would go for a keiryu rod like the nissin kosansui 270, great beginner rod and very affordable, also made in japan
