In case anyone is wondering, here's what my current build plans look like. I still need to buy fans and some Molex to fan 4pin power cables, but I'm holding off on those until I get the case.

Fractal 804 case ($142.91) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6OVG0I

(10) Seagate Exos 14 TB drive ($2090) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T63FDJQ

Intel RAID Expander Card (RES2SV240) ($155) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0042NLUVE

Power Supply ($94.50) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PDV45F8

(3) Mini SAS to SATA Cable ($41.97) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012BPLYJC

Sata power cable splitters ($6.99) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T356R21

Sata 90o angle adapter ($6) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P5N714P

Total cost: $2442.87

This SAS card is what I personally use and then use these breakout cables.

The PCB is green unfortunately but Art of Server is a great seller and I would put reliability over aesthetics personally.

This one is what I use in my 'desktop' [Fractal case] Plex server since 2020:

amazon.com/gp/product/B0085FT2JC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You'll use these cables:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012BPLYJC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Look up fan mod for the card, I used this little boi:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NQLT0M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's basically plug and play. The fan "modification" isn't too hard. The card is considerably cheaper now than it was in 2020. My server is completely stuffed with something like 9 drives and 3 SSDs plus a GPU so the fan mod was to keep the temps 'reasonable' in my stuffed case.

I've used these many times, across multiple projects, for many years and never had a problem

Thanks, Jlmr731!

I am finally starting to get a better understanding.

I have 1 PCIe x16 available, sorry for not mentioning it earlier.

So if I get this card (or this one, or) along with these cables, is it all I need to make it work?
