I have to say I tried both icing and heating pad and the heating pad was hands down way better for me. When I did ice my shot areas hurt all day long. After a bunch of suggestions from people on Reddit I got down a great system that really helped me.

I would make my shot up and then go sit on the heating pad for ten minutes. Hold the shot in your hand to warm it up. Right before the shot so about 5 squats. Do the shot and then 5 more squats. Then back on the heating pad for 5-10 minute.
I know this is long and sound like a pain in the ass but you will literally have a pain in the ass haha. The first 4 days I did ice and they really sucked.
