You find which colors are in the room (colors that will stay: furniture, frames, tables...) and find a multi piece that you like and match one or some of that colors.
According what I see, blues and oranges (woods).. check other colors in the room. (examples)

When there is a big wall to "put something", is hard to do by yourself, because you can create a nice composition of personal pictures in a corner, or small place but when its a large spot it is lot of work.
Canvas are better as you don't have to worry about frames colors. And are light and easy to move and handle.
