It does work, but only after I booted off USB then formatted it a second time using Disk Utility. I had formatted it prior to trying it the first time, but it didn't work until I reformatted it.You might try a different SD card. There is concern that it requires one that can handle a lot of read/writes.

I rather get a name brand, and not a generic rebrand.
Samsung PRO Endurance 64GB for $22. (made for video, has MLC NAND)

these are probably the best cards currently. they aren't a lot more expensive than other regular cards, but are designed specifically for long term recording. sandisk and transcend cards are not recommended anymore. They might have their own high endurance cards for dash cams too though, but these samsung ones just dropped in price few months ago and are a good deal.
I've always had good luck with this Samsung one, haven't had one die yet: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B9KTLJZ
On the other hand I've also just used the cheapest cards I can find, like these $4 32gb cards, and just replace them when they die lol. I bought that pack about a year ago and have only had 1 of them die so far. I only use those ones in cams that are in non-crucial locations though.
