I use it mobile with a simple trunk mount Dual band 2 meter & 440 antenna. For Base radio usage You could mag-mount an antenna to a baking sheet or other metal surface. Just watch running 50 watts to it if people are around. You really won't ever need to run 50 watts out of it to make a contact to a repeater.

I haven't transmitted on on 6 or 10 meter with the radio.

They make a quadband antenna but it cost around $100 or something. I were to decide to use it for 10 meter or 6 meter at a base, I might consider running it to wire dipole running vertical (correct polization for FM)

I would save up and get an antenna like this for your HT and you'd be surprised.
