They are not only not supporting Chromecast, they are not supporting the cast protocol which is common to all Android Smart TVs and all Android TV boxes

That's being pedantic: 'supporting the cast protocol' is the same thing as 'supporting Chromecast', it's exactly what I said.

That doesn't change the fact that not supporting a certain protocol isn't that outrageous: aside from Amazon, Microsoft and Apple don't support chromecast either. I don't see people grabbing their pitchforks over that.

And while I like my Chromecasts (I have 2, a regular one, and the audio one), fact remains it's not a web standard. This is why other browsers like Firefox and Opera and Safari cannot cast to Chromecast.

Now, does this mean I don't think amazon should support Chromecast? Hell no, it's dumb and everyone -Amazon, Google, and consumers- would be better of if Amazon their services simply supported Chromecast. Oh, and fuck yeah Amazon should get over itself and simply sell Chromecast devices. It's selling these rip-offs, so they can't use some bullshit excuse about it protecting consumers.

However, is it worse than what Google does? Hell fucking no. What does Google do in response? It's breaking internet custom: it is serving broken webpages to devices simply because it doesn't like the manufacturer of that device. This is worse than "install flash to view my crap", it's "use other device to view this crap, even though your device is perfectly capable of viewing this content".

Imagine Google did this to Apple, and suddenly blocked YouTube on all iPhones, even though YouTube is simply HTML5 which the iPhones fully support. Would you be ok with that?
