Ahh yup that makes sense. So in terms of balanced DACs is it worth saving the ~$110 with something like this? (seems to be a balanced DAC). comes native with the 1/4 inch TRS outputs which I already have for cables. (would eliminate the need for the TRS -> RCA converter I'm currently using.

I guess my question is: is there a sizeable upgrade to going with the Schiit Modius and using the XLR cables? (quality, volume etc.)

Is there volume control with that Schitt Modius? I ideally would be able to control the volume without manually adjusting each of the 3 knobs.

Does something like the Topping E50 work as a balanced DAC with volume control?
