You could try rechargeable 1.5V Li-ion battert. It can keep a constant voltage of 1.5V, more stable and powerful, with better device performance. Such as this xtar 1.5v Li-ion batteries: https://www.amazon.com/XTAR-Lithium-Rechargeable-Low-Voltage-Indication/dp/B0B27JQKPR
Eneloop with BQ-CC17 charger ("standard" 7hr) would be my pick. The 3hr overheats batteries, IMHO.
"In an emergency" throw an alkaline in there (if you don't have an extra eneloop) while the other charges.
If you wanna go 1.5 Lithium, I'd recommend EBL or XTAR's versions. XTAR has a green label one with a low-battery-warning feature, as well. The ONLY reason I'd go with those is if you want a lighter-weight mouse (I prefer a heavier one for gaming). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B27JQKPR/
You could argue for the ones with the built-in charge port. Especially since it's a 1-battery device. Unless it's for a laptop, though, shouldn't make much difference.
