Do not use the screwdriver that came with this kit. Use a good quality one such as the ifixit kit.

I'm not sure about battery life since I haven't tested it yet. I always put the remote back on the dock after every use so I'm not too worried about battery life. I will say that this aftermarket battery was slightly bigger than the OEM battery which was concerning because I was wondering how it would fit. It turned out to fit fine...maybe a bit more snug in the compartment.
