Casfuy Dog Nail Grinder Upgraded... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PFCLHKR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This is the one I bought.
Dew claws are a challenge because they don't get worn down by walking. My Pyr hated clippers with a passion. So, we tried a grinder. That has worked much better. We still have to hold her down and administer treats after, but she does allow herself to be held down. The grinder also helps to smooth any sharp nail edges that might cut, especially when she uses her mighty Pyr paw.
One word of caution about grinders. They can generate uncomfortable or even painful heat if you bear down too long. So, grind a bit and pull back. Or grind a bit on one nail, switch to the next nail on the paw, etc., and then come back to the first one and do the paw over again.
Here is the grinder we are using. It is not silent, of course, but it is very quiet.

I was very unsure because I was worried it would be cheap, ya know? There's a ton of them out there. And I was worried about using a grinder because I had my nails done by a lady with a dang dremel once and it scared me. But like you, we had to do something , so I just picked the one that had a lot of reviews. I don't like pushing products so I'll say that anything with a similar design and a bunch of reviews will probably do the job, but this one worked for me and seems solid so far.
It's surprisingly easy to use and I'm very relieved at how safe it feels. I never buzz more than a little, because I am paranoid about going too far. I got styptic powder just in case. And I've got a flashlight to check the quick.
I was worried at first because the dew claws were so bad, I felt urgency about wanting to get them taken care of. They're not short yet but we're seeing progress, they're slowly retreating, so I feel like now that the dogs are cool with it, we just need to keep this routine up and they'll be ok. The key is to have the maintenance routine solid.
